Bol Bom Yatra is an auspicious pilgrimage observed by the devotees of Lord Shiva annually in the month of Shravan (July – August) . In this practice the bearer known as ‘Kaudias’ go the Hindu pilgrimage places in different parts of the country and state of Odisha like Lord Lingaraj in Bhubaneswar, Lord Lokanath in Puri, Lord Akhandalamani in Bhadrak, Lord Gupteswar in Koraput and Lord Dhabaleswar in Cuttack etc. to fetch water from the Holy Ganges/Rivers and then offer the ‘Gang Jal/ Holy Water’ in the local Lord Shiva temples. In this year thousands of devotees visiting various shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. The pilgrims shout ‘Bol Bom’ or ‘Harhar Bom’ meaning ‘Say Shiva’ during the pilgrimage. The devotees in men, women & children carry the sacred holy water to run or walk barefooted for kilometres to reach the Lord Lingaraj in Bhubaneswar Shiva Temples to bath the Shivling seeking good health, wealth and happiness.
To help kaudias so many NGOs are there and they offer free sewa (service) like medical help, water, tea, breakfast, lunch etc. in the journey route. Likely, Sarala Rubber Stamp Works was organised a “Bol Bom Seva Camp/Sivira” at N.H.5, Rasulgarh Square for offering FREE services in terms of Drinking water pouch, Tea & Snacks, Pain balm, massaging to the tired pilgrims along with a group of local volunteers. Such Bol Bom Service Camps have been organised since 1982 as a welfare mission of the organisation.
